Carryl Roy Announces Run for Senate District 12

Carryl Roy Announces Campaign Launch for New Hampshire’s 12th Senate District

Carryl is running to make New Hampshire “a place where growth is thoughtful, not reckless, and where opportunity is shared.”

NASHUA, NH — Carryl Roy has announced her bid for New Hampshire’s 12th Senate District. The district, which encompasses parts of Nashua and other towns in Hillsborough and Cheshire Counties, is currently represented by Kevin Avard.

Roy is a recognizable figure in Senate District 12, and is running on a platform focused on affordability and supporting public education.

Hollis Selectboard member Tom Whalen said:

“I’ve known Carryl for years, and what I respect most about her is that she leads the same way I believe local leadership should work: by listening first, by showing up consistently, and by putting the community ahead of politics. She understands that good governance is about making thoughtful, responsible decisions that serve families, seniors, and taxpayers alike.”

Senate Democratic Deputy Leader Cindy Rosenwald added:

“What excites me about Carryl Roy is that she represents a different approach. She leads with listening. She brings real experience serving her community. And she understands–personally–what affordability, education, and opportunity mean for families who are trying to build a good life here. Carryl doesn’t see public service as politics. She sees it as responsibility. Responsibility to kids, to parents, to seniors, and to the communities we all call home. That’s the kind of leadership I know Nashua deserves—and it’s why I’m so proud to support her.”

Carryl announced her run flanked by her family and supporters, saying that she would focus on responsible leadership to protect the New Hampshire advantage and protect our local neighborhood schools.

“I love New Hampshire. I chose to raise my family here because New Hampshire is a place that values independence, community, and fairness… I’m running to keep New Hampshire a place where kids can get a great education close to home. A place where families can afford childcare and housing without breaking the bank. A place where seniors aren’t priced out of the communities they helped build. A place where growth is thoughtful, not reckless, and where opportunity is shared.

“The incumbent has now been in elected office for nearly two decades. In that time, we’ve seen costs from housing to healthcare soar… We’ve seen [him] vote to undermine public education, including just two weeks ago his support for so-called “open enrollment” proposals that educators warned would destabilize local schools and push costs onto property taxpayers.” says Roy.

“I believe New Hampshire deserves better. Not louder politics, but better leadership. Not more division, but more common sense. Not another twenty years of the same, but a future focused on families. I’m running because I believe we can lower costs, strengthen schools, and move New Hampshire forward—together. I’m asking for your support, your trust, and your help in building something better for the next generation.”

The New Hampshire Senate was recently named a “Battleground Target” by the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee. Senate District 12 is a seat both the caucus and the DLCC have identified as a top opportunity to flip. With national eyes on the caucus, the New Hampshire Senate Democratic Caucus aims to end the current Republican supermajority.

Carryl is proud to have the support of:

  • Senate Democratic Leader Rebecca Perkins Kwoka (D - Portsmouth)

  • Senate Democratic Deputy Leader Cindy Rosenwald (D - Nashua)

  • Former Senator Melanie Levesque

  • Nashua Mayor Jim Donchess

  • Nashua Alderwoman-at-large Amber Morgan

  • Hollis Selectboard Member Tom Whalen

  • State Representative William Darby (D-Nashua)

  • State Representative Kat McGhee (D-Hollis)
