Lower Property Taxes
Carryl has a plan to lower property taxes by ensuring the state is paying its obligations to our towns. Right now, New Hampshire ranks last in state funding for public education, and that gap in funding lands right on our property tax bills. We also know that our police, firefighter, and teacher pensions, which used to be partially paid by the state, are now fully funded by local taxpayers.
The current leadership in Concord has made decisions that have downshifted costs to the local level, and all of our property taxes have gone up as a result.
We can fix this without instituting new taxes, but we need to be smart about what we are prioritizing at the state level.
